Volume back to normal for Florida avocados

Volume of Florida’s green-skin avocados is back to normal this year, following tight supplies last season spurred by Hurricane Irma. Florida growers are expected to produce about 800,000 bushels of avocados between June and April. Last year’s crop was reduced by about 40% as a result of the hurricane.

Ban lifted on shellfish harvesting along coastline, harbor

New Hampshire’s Department of Environmental Services has lifted a ban on most shellfish harvesting along the state’s ocean coastline and Hampton-Seabrook Harbor after a drop in toxic algae bloom known as red tide. The harvest closure went into effect on May 9 in response to elevated levels of paralytic shellfish poisoning detected in blue mussels.

Tariffs drive down U.S. lobster exports to China by 46%

U.S. live lobster sales to China fell 47% to $93.8 million in the 12 months since a 25% tariff was imposed. Total international sales decreased 5% to $588.2 million during the time frame
